To escape the lands where one is enslaved and gain freedom takes unimaginable courage. To turn around and face those same lands and enslavers time and time again to aid others in their own harrowing journeys towards freedom is almost unthinkable. And then to return, once more, to those very same lands, this time to face those enslavers on a battlefield—well, it is nothing short of heroic. In other words, it is nothing short of Harriet Tubman.
